ABSTRACT

Academic stress is basically defined as the impact that educational organizations may produce on their students. The clinical study was conducted on the role of S-R syrup, a hypothetical Ayurvedic compound and Shirodhara in the management of Academic stress in children. The study was assessed in 104 apparently normal school students in 8-i6 yr age group as per the standard guidelines and diagnostic criteria. The results indicate that Group D (S-R syrup and Shirodhara) has shown maximum improvement among all the four groups in all the criteria while Group C (Placebo) showed minimum improvement (P<I3.002), (P<o.00i). This clearly indicates that both the Study drug and Shirodhara are effective in alleviating the symptoms of Academic stress, but drug combined with Shirodhura had much greater potential to ameliorate the symptoms of Academic stress rather than the drug or shirodhura alone.

ABSTRACT

According to the current knowledge about sex chromosomes, the sex determination gets completed while fertilization takes place. After fertilization sex of the fetus can not be changed. Similar view was existed in ancient time too, which is evident from the concept that a son or a daughter is the result of the predominance of Shukra and Aartva respectively. If it is so, then what is the role and purpose of Punsavansanskar or Putriya vidhi. The present communication aims to examine this important classical concept in appropriate persepective. It would be seen that Punsavana really does not mean to change the sex of the fetus in utero. It intends to improve the quality of the fetus and the future progeny. This article attempts to project the textual data in right perspective to uphold this view.
